Directions to Powell-Focht Bioengineering Hall (PFBH) at University of California, San Diego on the La Jolla Campus

For those who will be driving to the CTE Lab, please note the following information about parking.

• For certain visitors and visits, a special parking arrangement may be provided; please contact Prof. Sah or his assistant. Otherwise, please refer to a summary of information about parking options, below.
• From 7a-11p, Monday-Friday, a UCSD parking permit is required to park in the non-metered parking lots on the La Jolla campus of UCSD. Metered spaces ($1/hr) are very limited in number.
• The nearest lots to PFBH (601) are P502, P503, P508, P506, and P510.
• For visitors arriving during peak working hours (7:45a-4:30p, Monday – Friday), parking around PFBH (601) is extremely limited. Visitors are encouraged to allow enough time to become familiar with the campus and to park.
• For visitors arriving outside of peak working hours but while permits are still required (7:00a-7:45a or 4:30p-11:00p on Monday – Friday), parking around PFBH (601) is generally available in the nearby parking lots.
  • For visitors arriving 7:00a-7:45a, a “One Day” permit ($6) can be purchased; visitors planning to stay after 7:45a should park in a “B” or “S” spot.
  • For visitors arriving 4:30p-11:00p on Monday – Friday, a “One Night” ($3) permit can be purchased; visitors, planning to depart by 7:45a the following morning, can park in an “A”, “B”, or “S” spot.
• For visitors with a GPS-based Navigation System, depending on the type you have and update of map information:

To get to the CTE Lab by car,

• Take Interstate 5 (North or South, depending on where you are coming from). Exit at Genesee Ave and head west.
• Turn left at North Torrey Pines Road, heading south.
• Turn left at Northpoint Drive, heading east into the UCSD campus.
• There is an information booth with maps and parking passes for purchase.
• Continue on Hopkins drive, which takes a 90 degree turn to the south.
• At the stop sign, turn left onto Voigt Drive heading east.
• When you come to the stop sign, turn left (northwest) into Lot P502. With the lab 10-day use permit placard, you can park in the spaces marked with a green or yellow square on the ground.
• To get to PFBH from Lot P502, walk southeast towards building P601 found on the campus map, which is east of Engineering Building Unit-1 (600).
• To get to Room 319 (Prof. Sah's office), take one of the two elevators to the 3rd floor. After getting off the elevator, turn right and follow the signs to "Cartilage Tissue Engineering". Near the end of the hallway, turn left and enter into the door marked Room 317-319. Room 319 is straight ahead.
